Metrodata have several products which support Ethernet over satellite solutions including:
TCP enhancement products can be used to maximize your satellite data throughput. However the majority of TCP enhancement products have Ethernet interfaces restricting the satellite modems that can be used and the satellite speeds that can be supported. Historically routers have been used to perform this Ethernet to serial conversion but this segments the user network at the IP layer which can cause ongoing maintenance and support issues. Metrodata's LAN over Satellite product range are a more cost effective scalable solution than using routers as they operate at layer 2. WC X.21: Ethernet over EIA530 ConverterThe WC X.21 is a plug and play 4-port 10/100baseT Ethernet switch with an EIA530 uplink. The EIA530 port takes its clock (or clocks) from the satellite modem, offering either symmetric or asymmetric operation at up to 20Mbps without bit slips. The WC X.21 is part of a larger range of products that also support Ethernet over G.703 satellite modems, the WAN-in-a-Can range. WC V.35: Ethernet over V.35 ConverterThe WC V.35 is a plug and play 4-port 10/100baseT Ethernet switch with a V.35 uplink. The V.35 port takes its clock (or clocks) from the satellite modem, offering either symmetric or asymmetric operation at up to 20Mbps without bit slips. LV2000: Ethernet over LVDS ConverterThe LV2000 is a plug and play 10/100baseT Ethernet switch with an LVDS uplink. The LVDS port takes its clock (or clocks) from the satellite modem, offering either symmetric or asymmetric operation at up to 52Mbps without bit slips. LH1000: Ethernet over HSSI ConverterThe LH1000 is a plug and play 10/100baseT Ethernet switch with a HSSI and a multi-serial uplink. The HSSI port takes its clock (or clocks) from the satellite modem, offering either symmetric or asymmetric operation at up to 110Mbps without bit slips. The multi-serial port can support EIA530, X.21, RS449, V.36, V.35 and RS232 taking its clock (or clocks) from the satellite modem, offering either symmetric or asymmetric operation at up to 20Mbps without bit slips (or 256kbps for RS232). The LH1000 can also operate using HSSI for one transmission direction and EIA530 for the other. The LH1000 was originally developed for Intelsat to offer Ethernet satellite service delivery. |
