• Transporting NON-ATM over an ATM network
• Transporting ATM cells over serial crypto and satcom and radio
• Cost Reducing ATM links by Switching DSU's
• Multiplexing ATM Links together
• Concentrating and Multiplexing NON-ATM and mixed traffic/interfaces
