The Metrodata FM4950 is used to interface high performance DTE equipment such as bridges or routers with HSSI (EIA612/EIA613) interfaces to unframed 44.736Mbps DS3 leased line services.

The FM4950 performs a physical layer conversion function, and has status LEDs which indicate alarms on the DS3 port, and show that the data passing across the HSSI interface.

DS3 physical layer statistics are gathered and loop backs are available to aid diagnostic functions.

Unit configuration is performed from the console port via a simple but comprehensive menu driven user interface system.

The optional Metrodata LM1100 SNMP enabler permits management via a LAN using either Telnet or an SNMP network management system, which supports SNMP GET, SET and Trap functions.
