The Metrodata FC3x00 is a cost effective plug and play method of connecting E3 34Mbps or DS3 45Mbps G.703 devices together over fiber, e.g. extending either video (MPEG) or data (router) services over up to 5km of multimode fiber, or up to 70km of singlemode fiber.

The three members of the FC3x00 product family are as follows:

• FC3000 for E3/DS3 services over up to 5km of multimode fiber
• FC3100 for E3/DS3 services over up to 30km of singlemode fiber
• FC3200 for E3/DS3 services over up to 70km of singlemode fiber

The FC3x00 provides a clear channel or unchannelised E3 or DS3 path over the fiber, which means that the data source can be either framed or unframed.

The FC3x00 offers a BNC pair for the E3 / DS3 interface, whilst the fiber port has a dual SC fiber connector.

A status LED shows alarms on the E3 / DS3 and fiber ports, and a bi-directional data loop is available.

Unit configuration is performed via bit switches.
