The AP Dual E2 CE interface module offers a 2-port unstructured E2 circuit emulation function to the Access Processor platform, enabling the convergence of E2 services into the ATM switch, e.g. microwave radio links. Each E2 port operates at the ITU-T Standard data rate of 8.448Mbps and is G.703 standards compliant, with a BNC connector pair.

Each incoming E2 data stream is segmented into ATM cells using unstructured AAL.1 adaptation. At the remote end, the E2 clock is recovered and the original bit stream is reassembled. End to end timing is maintained through the use of adaptive clocking and jitter attenuation.

These modules are "Hot Swappable" to ease maintenance, with replacement modules recovering immediately without further configuration.

This module collects and collates physical layer statistics including alarms and errors, whilst flexible clocking modes remove network synchronisation problems.

Management and configuration of this module is achieved via the simple menu driven user interface of the Access Processor which also supports SNMP traps.
