The AP Quad E1 CE interface module offers a 4-port unstructured E1 circuit emulation function to the Access Processor platform, enabling the convergence of E1 services into the ATM switch, e.g. PBX or mobile basestation backhaul. The E1 port operates at the ITU-T Standard data rate of 2.048Mbps and is standards compliant, with either a BNC connector pair or an RJ45 connector.
Each incoming E1 data stream is segmented into ATM cells using unstructured AAL.1 adaptation. At the remote end, the E1 clock is recovered and the original bit stream is reassembled. End to end timing is maintained through the use of adaptive clocking and jitter attenuation.
These modules are "Hot Swappable" to ease maintenance, with replacement modules recovering immediately without further configuration.
This module collects and collates physical layer statistics including alarms and errors, whilst flexible clocking modes remove network synchronisation problems.
Management and configuration of this module is achieved via the simple menu driven user interface of the Access Processor which also supports SNMP traps.
Two connector variants are available: the AP Quad E1 RJ45 CE interface module and the AP Dual E1 BNC CE interface module .
