The AP Quad T1 RJ45 CE interface module offers a 4-port unstructured T1 circuit emulation function to the Access Processor platform, enabling the convergence of T1 services into the ATM switch, e.g. router, PBX or mobile basestation backhaul. The T1 port operates at the ITU-T Standard data rate of 1.544Mbps and is standards compliant, with an RJ45 connector.

Each incoming T1 data stream is segmented into ATM cells using unstructured AAL.1 adaptation. At the remote end, the T1 clock is recovered and the original bit stream is reassembled. End to end timing is maintained through the use of adaptive clocking and jitter attenuation.

These modules are "Hot Swappable" to ease maintenance, with replacement modules recovering immediately without further configuration.

This module collects and collates physical layer statistics including alarms and errors, whilst flexible clocking modes remove network synchronisation problems.

Management and configuration of this module is achieved via the simple menu driven user interface of the Access Processor which also supports SNMP traps.
