The AP E3 CE interface module offers an unstructured E3 circuit emulation function to the Access Processor platform, enabling the convergence of E3 services into the ATM switch, e.g. routers, broadcast video or microwave radio links. The E3 port operates at the ITU-T Standard data rate of 34.368Mbps and is G.703 standards compliant, with a BNC connector pair.
The incoming E3 data stream is segmented into ATM cells using unstructured AAL.1 adaptation. At the remote end, the E3 clock is recovered and the original bit stream is reassembled. End to end timing is maintained through the use of adaptive clocking and jitter attenuation.
These modules are "Hot Swappable" to ease maintenance, with replacement modules recovering immediately without further configuration.
This module collects and collates physical layer statistics including alarms and errors, whilst flexible clocking modes remove network synchronisation problems.
Management and configuration of this module is achieved via the simple menu driven user interface of the Access Processor which also supports SNMP traps.
