Operating at speeds up to 52Mbps, the KIV-7M is the first Crypto to attain the NSA's new guidelines under the Crypto Modernisation Initiative. It provides an LVDS / EIA644 interface, and this is not commonly found on Telecoms equipment unless of course you come to Metrodata. LVDS is not a new interface to us, and before the KIV-7M came out we were already supporting LVDS on our LV1000 Ethernet to Serial Converter. With the increase in speed of the KIV-7M over the older KIV-7HSA, its important that you do not create a bottleneck within your network by interfacing to slower serial interfaces. With this viewpoint in mind, Metrodata have developed our LVDS products to match the bitrate of the KIV-7M and these high speed LVDS Modems such as the Paradise P3000. As the KIV-7M is a new crypto, we are still in early stages of finding out different ways of connecting it to other equipment. Examples of these are connecting KIV-7M LVDS / EIA644 to:
These are current applications for interfacing. We are also developing other EIA644/LVDS products that may help you interface your infrastructure to this Crypto, so please contact us if you are looking at interfacing EIA644/LVDS with Fiber, EIA530, E3/DS-3/OC-3 or Fiber. CONNECTING THE KIV-7M ON ITS RED SIDE TO IP ROUTERS / SWITCHES This utilises the Metrodata LV2000. The LV2000 enables the connection of an Ethernet Interface on a Router or Switch to an LVDS/EIA644 Crypto. The LV2000 supports up to 52Mbps bitrate and also has the added feature of Automatic Crypto Resync.
CHECK OUT THE LV2000 DATASHEET IN HTML CONNECTING THE KIV-7M ON ITS RED SIDE TO A HSSI ROUTER With the Metrodata BC1100 it is possible to connect a HSSI Router Interface, to an LVDS/EIA644 Interface on the Red Side of the KIV-7M Crypto. The BC1100 can only be used on the Red Side, and supports a maximum bitrate of 52Mbps. CHECK OUT THE BC1100 DATASHEET IN HTML CONNECTING THE KIV-7M ON ITS BLACK SIDE TO A HSSI RADIO OR SATCOM MODEM With the Metrodata BC1000 it is possible to connect the LVDS/EIA644 Interface on the Black Side of the KIV-7M Crypto, to a HSSI Interface on a Radio Relay System or Satcom Modem. The BC1000 can only be used on the Black Side, and supports a maximum bitrate of 52Mbps.
